Possible Problem With Great Wall Differentials
We’ve been selling a few rear differential heads for V200 and V240 Great Wall utes lately and wondered why.. customers and workshops are telling us the differential had little or no oil in it when removed.
We decided to take a look at some of the utes we have in our yard and around a third of them had very low oil levels in the differential but showed no signs of any oil leaks, maybe they were never filled properly before sale but we can’t be sure of that.
Anyway, we recommend that you check your Great Wall ute’s diff oil just in case it’s low.
How to check your diff oil:
- Make sure the vehicle is on level ground
- Remove the fill plug from the back of the differential housing (see photo of the plug), you might have to raise the back of the ute a little with a jack to easily get to the plug.
- Once removed a small amount of oil should leak out, if no oil comes out top up the level with correct grade oil until oil does start to leak out
- Now screw the drain plug back in and tighten.
- That’s it your good to go
